Lego Beijing Replica

I know this post takes up a lot of room, but I thought this was cool as hell. As a big fan of the the Olympics and Legos, I thought this was a cool design and took a lot of work. I was never able to put together anything like this with Legos, I am kind of jealous of this. This design has a great amount of detail and really captures the excitement of the Olympics.

Nike Hyperdunk Released

The Hyperdunk came out this weekend on Saturday and I did get a pair. These are taunted as being the best basketball shoe ever as well as the lightest and strongest. I cannot really comment on being the best basketball shoe ever because I have yet to play in them, but they are definitely the lightest. You can barely feel them on your foot and they fit the foot extremely well. I think they are pretty stylish. I love all the Olympic colorways for the individual teams. I cannot decide which country, I want to get, so I will stick with the stealthy all black for now.

Accompanying the release of the Hyperdunk is the advertising that goes with it. I really enjoy the ads for the Hyperdunk and there humorous approach. It kind of reminds me of the "Fun Police" ads they had way back in the day. However, three of the ads have been pulled for the fact that some of them may be deemed homophobic. I don't think any of the ads are homophobic at all. I mean, anyone who is part of basketball culture will understand the punchline of the advertising and the fact that is making fun of one of the most embarrassing parts of basketball: getting dunked on. No one would think these ads were homphobic, until attention was actually brought to them for being homophobic. I think that is absolutely ridiculous, but what can you do.

If you are not able to catch the ads, take a look at the website, the Hyperdunk Recovery Center. It is very interactive and entertaining, portraying as a sign-up website for victims who have suffer from Hyperdunk (getting dunked on). I spent about 20 minutes on it yesterday reading the content that is pretty well done and laughing at the victims of Hyperdunk. Nike has done a great job positioning and releasing the Hyperdunk, establishing as a shoe with a sort of superpower and creating a lot of buzz with the viral video of Kobe jumping over a speeding Aston Martin while wearing the Hyperdunks. Whether it was fake or real, the video got a lot of attention and a lot of free media coverage.Nike genius at work.

Quote of the Day --- "Intelligence"

"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
--Aristotle--

Agreed. Being open minded is a quality that really lacks in our society today. When people encounter something that is different, something they do not understand or think is stupid, they are quick to label something negatively and to disregard it all along. All things, if rooted in some intelligent thought or background, should be thought of and considered before just ridding yourself of it. There is so much separation and negative energy amongst people in society today because people are not open minded. Not that all things need to be accepted, but all things should be thought about. Even if one does not agree with something, an educated mind should evaluate how to make that something better or put their own spin to it. A close minded attitude is the downfall to our society and holds back a lot of individuals from gaining their true potential.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! I am back. Rejuvenated and Focused.

D.J. and Me.

Oak and Me. Oak stays coming out his outfit and ends up with the beater.

Me, Robbie-O, Oak and Fortune.

Haha. They put on my favorite song "Get Money" by Biggie and followed it up with "All About the Benjamins". I had to wild out. If you know me, you know I love that old Bad Boy music. Take that, Take that.

Nev and Me.

Some of the crew having fun.

My Birthday is today. YAAAY!!! haha. I am not really that excited. Actually, with every birthday that creeps up on me, I feel more pressure to better myself and to make something out of my life. Not that I am not on the straight and narrow, but I just want to get to where I am going. I guess I think of my birthday as a day of motivation, a day to get things right and assess where I am.

I also believe that life is about balance and you should celebrate your birthday. I always try to use my birthday as a time to get my friends together since we are always doing our own thing now and don't get to chill as much as we used to. So this past weekend, I have been celebrating and is why I have not been on this blog thing in a couple days.

Here are some pictures of the celebration that took place at Ultrabar in DC. We had a VIP table, but who can really wants to be own a couch all night. Like Cormega said, "I'm in the tunnel with the crowd, f**K V.I.P..." Everyone had fun, and I definitely recommend Ultrabar. My first time there and it was definitely enjoyable and they treated me and my party with great service. Thanks to everyone who came and I hope everyone had fun.

I got a lot of stuff I want to put up here, some of it is old matters, but are things I had some thoughts about and wanted to express. Been busy having fun, back to the grind now.

The OBAMA Brand

Barack Obama is becoming more than just a Presidential candidate, but he is quickly becoming a brand. There are a gazillion t-shirts bearing his face and every month he is on a different magazine cover. Will this brand endure if he happens not to win the election? I think it is too early to tell. I am interested to see how many true supporters Barack has or if people just feel the Obama brand is a fashion statement or the cool thing to do. I think this will all come to late as the election pulls closer. If the Obama brand last past the election, especially if he loses, I think Barack will have really accomplished something truly special.

The Ting Tings

I went shopping at Urban Outfitters and bought some shirts and the cashier girls puts this sampler CD in my bag. I look at the case when I get in the car and I have no heard of any of these bands. So, I pop in the CD and the first track is pretty good then I get to track 3 and I am blown away by the simple beat and the catchy rhythm and hook. I pick up the case and search for the track. It reads "Great DJ" by The Ting Tings. I play the song repeatedly for 45 minutes until I arrive home. The next day, I am watching MTV Hits and I hear this song and the sound is familiar and sounds a lot like the song I fell in love with the day before. I wait for the credits at the end of the visually simple yet stylistic video and it reads "Shut Up and Let Me Go" by The Ting Tings. I immediately become a fan. So I had to find out more about this group.

"The Ting Tings are an English indie-pop band, consisting of two members: Jules De Martino (drums, guitar, vocals) and Katie White (vocals, guitar, bass drum). They were originally from Leigh. They formed in 2006 while based at Castle Irwell, Salford. They have released 3 singles on their current label Columbia and the single "That's Not My Name" which charted straight at Number 1 in the UK Singles Chart on May 18 2008.The album We Started Nothing was released on May 19th, 2008 and also charted at Number 1 in the UK."

"Katie White and Jules De Martino needed a name for the "unintentional band" they'd created in 2007. For the sheer fun of it, Katie (vocals, guitar and bass drum) and Jules (vocals, drums, electronics) had begun writing songs together and doing impromptu shows as a two piece. Suddenly, they were generating massive excitement at a series of house parties at Manchester's Islington Mill, a derelict cotton mill from the Industrial Revolution converted into a thriving underground artist collective housing painters, filmmakers, writers, sculptures, musicians and more.
At the time, Katie was working in a boutique with a Chinese girl called "Ting Ting," which is also Mandarin term for a "band stand". "I thought it was lovely," Katie remembers. "It can also refer to the sound of innovation or an open mind. Like the 'ting' you hear when you get an idea."
Jules also loved the idea of becoming the Ting Tings. The name had two Tings "and there were two of us." And, like the sonorous peal of a bell, the new moniker held the rhythmic perfection of onomatopoeia."

That's a little bit about this new and emerging band. Check them out, they are different, but it is definitely music you will appreciate.

There Can Only Be One.

Sick shirt by Undrcrwn depicting Tupac and Biggie. There can only be one best rapper to ever live. In my opinion, Biggie, but that is another discussion. Concept taken from the NBA playoffs advertising campaign. Not sure when this will be available, but this will definitely be a must-buy that everyone will have.

Quote of the Day --- "Mediocrity"

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
--Albert Einstein--

There are always haters and those who hater are usually those who are jealous of one's superior accomplishments and mindset. Mediocre minds love anything that makes them feel better about themselves, which explains their attempts to derail and damage a great minds achievements.

Barack Obama: HOPE; John McCain: NOPE

I love when someone cleverly flips a concept. Self-explanatory.

Young Jeezy Feat. Kanye West --"Put On"

My song for the summer has finally got a video. I must admit that I am kind of disappointed in the concept for the video. I was expecting a lot more especially since this song is such an anthem and Kanye would have some input with his creative mind. I guess they just decided to keep it hood and simple. I like Jeezy a lot, but Kanye gets him on this one. One of Kanye's best verses of his career.

"I feel like there's still niggas that owe me checks
I feel like there's still bitches that owe me sex
I feel like this but niggas don't know the stress
I lost the only girl in the world that know me best
I got the money and the fame and that don't mean shit
I got the Jesus on a chain, man that don't mean shit
Cause when the Jesus pieces can't bring me peace
So I need just at least of one of Russell's nieces
On...I let my nightmares go
I put on for everybody that I knew from the go
I know these hoes that was frontin' when they knew we was broke
They say damn, Yeezy Yeezy, you don't know us no more
You got that big fame homie, and you just changed on me
You can ask big homie, man the top so lonely III....
So lonely III....
Let me see what we have tonight (what we have tonight)
I'm high as a satellite (satellite)
I see those flashin' lights (flashin' lights)
Cause every night (every night)
I PUT ON!!!"

Brandon Jennings vs. The NBA Business

When the NBA implement it's new rule that players had to be one year out of high school before they entered the league, I felt it was completely unfair, unnecessary and beneficial to only for one thing: the NBA. When this rule was implemented, I also knew that someone would come along and challenge this rule in some way because it is simply unfair. That is where Brandon Jennings has done. Jennings who is one of the top point guards in the country and would definitely had been a lottery pick in the is years NBA draft is debating skipping college and playing overseas for money until he is eligible to enter the NBA draft. Jennings, who has a scholarship to play at Arizona, may not be eligible for college becasue of his low SAT scores. Jennings has also made it clear he is not big on going to college. So here is where the option of going overseas to play comes in. I ask however, why should Jennings be forced to make that decision if he does not want to go to school and just wants to play basketball? and Why should Jennings have to settle to play overseas when he is good enough to play in the NBA?

The NBA says it has implemented the rule to create a more mature and stable NBA player and to prepare young players for the riggers of NBA life. I think that is just a cop out. The NBA is has implemented the rule for one reason and that is to control its players and to control its business. The NBA does not want to risk its image and money on young players, who could possible get in trouble or who may never reach their potential. They rather invest there money into foreign talent or older players, who are less talented, but have a better image. This is unfair to the young high school players, who are good enough. These are still young adults that should be allowed to make their own decisions. One year of college is not going to make someone more mature or a better basketball player. One year of college can essentially do the opposite in both regards. Why should these players be forced to attend college when their hearts are not into attending college? If their hearts are into basketball let them pursue their dreams.

Either way its a gamble. If a player goes to college or to the NBA, its a gamble. However, its less of a gamble for the NBA if they do not accept players who are out of high school. It's not a question of maturity. A person can be any age and be immature. Look at the behavior of some of the NBA's veterans (Shaq's Kobe freestyle). Young people are not scrutinzed in othee professions or held back from making money. Taking acting or music, Miley Cyrus, Lil' Bow Wow, Chris Brown, Rihanna, these are all college aged or young students making millions and millions of dollars and no one is questioning their maturity or encouraging them to get an education. They are doing what they love and we all praise them for it. But when it comes to a basketball player, who wants to make to make a decent living for his family and himself, he is immature and needs to get an education, and the NBA pretends that they have their best interest at heart. I praise Brandon Jennings for his courage to do what he wants and to bring up this unfair issue again. I just hope he isn't blackballed by the caring NBA business for his decisions.

Obama Lincoln

Obama Lincoln Exhibit in Boston done by artist Ron English.

This is a color depiction of the faces of Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln merged together. I wonder what Ron English was thinking and the message he is trying to communicate when he developed this concept for this exhibit. This is the first time I have seen Obama likened to Abraham Lincoln, who was a legendary president, who did a lot for blacks as well as the American people. What does this exhibit make you think? Many people see Obama as a savior for America. Personally, I do not think that is fair. It will take a lot more than one man to change America, but I do think Obama will be one to lead us in the right direction. I just think this is an interesting concept and leads to a lot of thoughts and interpretations. Let me know what you think about interesting idea.

VCU: 8th Whitest Network on Facebook

The popular blog Stuff White People Like (they also have a book) has just created a Facebook application for the social networking site. In honor of the launch of the application that released a list of the whitest networks on Facebook and my current school, VCU, came in at number 8. This was very surprising to me and really made me think. I was completely oblivious to the fact that my school was that "white" especially when walking across campus, I definitely do not get that feeling. I guess it was enlightening (and kind of humorous) to be reminded of the environment I live in and to stay aware of that.

Article on the blog Stuff White People Like

Full list of Stuff White People Like

I have always wondered if the creators of this blog are black or white and would that effect the popularity and impact of this blog. Considering that fact, how do people feel about the Black versions of this blog, Stuff Black Educated People Like and Stuff Black People Love. If you knew the race of the creators of these blogs, as a black or white person, would you receive the satire of these blogs in the same way or would you think of these thoughts as slander? Something to think about.

Quote of the Day --- "Pain"

"Nobody's life is entirely free of pain and sorrow. Isn't it a question of learning to live with them rather than trying to avoid them? The greater part of human pain is unnecessary. It is self-created as long as the unobserved mind runs your life. The pain that you create now is always some form of nonacceptance, some form of unconscious resistance to what is. On the level of thought, the resistance is some form of judgment. On the emotional level, it is some form of negativity. The intensity of the pain depends on the degree of resistance to the present moment, and this in turn depends on how strongly you are identified with your mind."
--Eckhart Tolle--

When I read this quote, it really struck me. Basically, our pain is a result of our own inability to face what we have been handed. Our resistance of our given circumstances and our connection that we have with ourselves and our minds, directly correlates with the amount of pain we must deal with. I take from this quote that we must be in tune with our minds and our inner workings and emotions to not question, but to accept and strong deal with the situations we have been handed. We do not have the ability to change the past or what has happened to us, but we can definitely effect how we feel and the future that lays ahead of us. We just have to take time and employ courage to face ourselves so that we can face our unwanted circumstances. In the end, we will be better off from it.

No Blacks Allowed.

The Olympics begin on August 8th and are supposed to represent the world coming together as one to compete on a friendly stage in athletic competition. However, it always seems that the Olympics are always used as a stage for discrimination, racism and prejudice of some sort. I was reading this article, that says that blacks will be banned from bars in China during the Olympics and bar owners were forced to sign an agreement that they would enforce these rules strictly. It is appalling to me that this is even an occurring. It is 2008, and people still have to deal with this sort of racism. To me it is just a reminder that racism is very much alive and that no matter who you are or where you are, you will more than likely have to deal with it on some level. It saddens me that at the Olympics, which is a place where the world is to come together, people are forced to have to deal with this kind of treatment. Will it ever end?

The Dark Knight--AMAZING!!!

The Dark Knight is simply one of the best movies I have seen and it is definitely the best superhero movie ever made. What intrigued me about the movie more than anything was the theme, idea and moral of the movie. Beyond the message that was being communicated, the way that message was communicated made the move 100 times better. The movie is about 2 and half hours, but not once are you bored. The theme to the movie is that in world of chaos, no one has morals and that when people's backs are put against the world, they will turn on anyone to make things better for themselves, was extremely powerful and thought provoking.

The teacher of that lesson could not have been any better than the Joker, who in my opinion, is the best villian in any comic series or superhero movie. Again, what is intriguing about the Joker is his philosophy and how he lives by that philosophy to create a world of chaos. He truly has no feelings and wants the world to feel his pain. The scene where he burns the pyramid of money is my favorite moment that shows just how careless the Joker he is. He cannot be stopped because he has no motivation, that is a powerful statement. Batman was great too. Watching the transformation and the struggles, the Joker made Batman face was really interesting and gave the movie an unexpected edge. The darkness of this movie is great and takes the kid-ish element of the previous Batman movies away. I really hope there is a third movie and I definitely plan to see this movie twice.

Why So Serious?

RollingStone Review

COURAGE.

I have always had this poster hanging up in my room and have always known the story of the 1968 Olympics, when Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised their fists to symbolize unity for their nation. But it was not until the other night when I was watching the ESPYs that I realized what this symbol truly meant and the courage it took to make a stand that is so powerful.

These men put their careers, lives and families in jeopardy to stand for what they believed in. Everything they had worked for all of their lives they put on hold to stand up for themselves, their people and their beliefs. A lot of people have this image on t-shirts and posters, but I wonder if people understand the true impact and symbol that this act stands for. I wonder if people actually have the courage to do what these men did. To give up everything that you have worked for and to put yourself on the line, knowing that you would not be backed up for your actions and will be persecuted for standing up for what you believe in and what is right. These men were black balled and had people turn their backs to them. It has taken them 40 years for to be recognized and acknowledge for their stance and their courage. Very few people have that type of courage to stand up when no one else will and to put their lives on the line. That type of rare courage needs to be admired, respected and fully understood. This image is more than a poster or a t-shirt.

Quote of the Day --- "Self-Help"

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson--

Everyday I live, I see this thought becoming more and more true. There are very few people who help someone or do something for someone without trying to reap some sort of benefit. No matter what most people say or their actions, deep down inside people only care about one person and that is themselves. Live naive to this fact and you will only be hurting yourself.

True Style

Kanye West has made The Sartorialist website. To me Kanye is becoming a true style icon.
I used to think Kanye tried to hard with some of his style choices and that most of his style came from the image he was trying to play, but he has a true love for fashion and that is definitely expressed through the way he dresses. Love the G-Shock watch with the dressier attire.

I love the prep look. Classic style that will never become outdated.
Shoes with no socks one of my favorite style statements.

Blazers and Shorts.
I like this style, but it has to be done completely right or you will look like an absurd and like you are trying too hard. Great look for the summer to keep it casual, but also gives off a sophisticated type of swag.

"Never Home, Gotta Call Me On The Yacht...."

I love yachts. You can stunt on anyone with a yacht. Russian Billionaire Andrey Melnichenko can now stunt on anyone with a yacht with this assumed $300 million dollar vessel, which is not a record price. This is crazy to me. It looks like a naval submarine, painted white. I have not even seen pictures of the inside, but I am sure it has the most outlandish designs to complement it's 'stealth' look. What makes this boat so special and hated is its radical design does not really follow the guidelines and conform to the standards of a traditional industry. That is what I love about this yacht. It is different and has a style all of its own.

Quote of the Day --- "Personality"

Quote of the Day---"Advice"

"There is nothing which we receive with so much reluctance as advice."
--Joseph Addison--

It's funny to me when the people who try to give the most advice seem to have the most problems. Should we listen because they have so many problems? Or should we not listen because they have so many problems? This confuses me at times. My solution, follow your heart and your own thinking and that way you only have one person to blame, yourself.

You Might Be The Reason.

"People say everything happens for a reason. These people are usually women, and these women are usually sorting through a break-up. It seems that men can get out of a relationship without even a 'goodbye', but apparently, women have to either get married or learn something."
--Carrie Bradshaw--
Now, I am not a big fan of Sex and the City, but there are somethings I definitely agree with and this is one of them. Looking at Facebook and AIM on a daily basis, you will never fail to see a girl have in her profile,on her status or away message, something about things happen for a reason. Is this an emotional tool to help women feel better about themselves? Also, why are most women so astonished when a male actually is not that into you? I am not sure what it is, but I would love to find out. Everytime this happens I feel women have to ask a million questions. Questions that should not even pop up. Questions that there are really no answers to. Questions that do nothing but make a simple situation, a hundred times worst and full of unnecessary drama. How? Why? Does it really matter?
Sometimes I feel this is a self-esteem issue with some women. Like they need a validation or to understand why they are not accepted. When these questions are answered, why is it that they are never satisfied with the answer and just become more and more hurt by what they wanted to know. I really don't understand this irrational frame of mind. I just know that this type of behavior and reaction does nothing but make women unattractive and many times confirms a guy's decision to break things off. Pretending like you do not care does not work either. If you are hurt that is perfectly natural, just do not make that hurt a pain for everyone around you, especially to the person who was trying to do right by you by letting you know things are not going to work out.
Yes, it is obvious all things happen for a reason. But do not state that quote and search for that reason. Searching for a reason, makes that thought a cop out and a band aid for your hurt. It is quite possible that that reason is you, and you may not be able to deal with the realization that you are not wanted. So sometimes you just have to deal with what has been dealt to you and move on. Lots of time, moving on will make things better for you anyways.

Obama New Yorker Cover: Ridiculous

"The New Yorker editors also issued a statement Monday saying the cover 'combines a number of fantastical images about the Obamas and shows them for the obvious distortions they are. The burning flag, the nationalist-radical and Islamic outfits, the fist-bump, the portrait on the wall? All of them echo one attack or another. Satire is part of what we do, and it is meant to bring things out into the open, to hold up a mirror to prejudice, the hateful, and the absurd. And that’s the spirit of this cover.'"

This is the statement released by the New Yorker to explain their position in this obscene matter and to clear up why they published this cover. I understand their explanation of satire, but there is also something called stupidity. From this explanation, I think this incident was neither. It looks that this cover was published with intention and that was to boost the rumors and speculations that Obama is a Muslim and possibly a terrorist. Satire is about interpretation, this cover and the images in this illustration are just solidifying and bringing the ridiculous allegations about Obama to life, not playing them off as satire. These are extreme issues that are being discussed. our possible future president is a terrorist considering what this country has faced with terrorism is outlandish and far from satire.

This cover and the recent comments from Jesse Jackson displays the hardship and the ridiculousness the Obama camp will have to deal with for the remainder of this presidential campaign. People will continue to try to damage in tarnish the brand and image Obama has built. To continue to be successful, Obama will have to keep his composure and handle each challenge with great maturity, character and intelligence. Obama's response to this cover was simple no comment, which was simply the best answer that could have been given. This is clearly a stupid act and an attempt to entice Obama into a roll of anger to bring him out of his character. Stupid acts do not deserve attention and Obama has given this none, which shows that there is one goal on his mind and that is to become President and to save this country and that is exactly what we need.

Quote of the Day --- "Identity"

"No man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself, and another to the multitude without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true."
--Nathaniel Hawthorne--

"You cannot belong to anyone else until you belong to yourself."
--Pearl Bailey--

Recently, I have been having thoughts about identity and how so many people really do not know who they are. With these thoughts, I have found that the lack of knowledge and love for yourself and the desire to be accepted or be like someone else is the downfall to so many people and the cause to many of their problems. The most difficult battle and the sweetest victory we can ever have in life is the battle we have with ourselves and knowing who we are as people and being happy with that. When we are able to accept who we are and are willing to never change to be accepted by others, we will experience the greatest happiness and success in life.

Do Low Self-Esteem and Materialism Go Hand and Hand???

This article talks about a study that links low self-esteem to materialism and the negative effects on that connection. This article could not be anymore true and it definitely explores the fundamental downfall of many people in our country. Today, people fail to realize what is true important in their lives and fail to understand the true meaning of happiness. People have failed to get to know and learn who they are as people and if they do in fact learn who they are, they fail to be happy with that. Happiness for a lot of people is created through validation by others and validation by others is often created through what material possessions we have. The thing with that is that material things always change meaning that we are never happy for a long period of time by living like that. Do not get me wrong, it is okay to have and enjoy material things, but it is not okay to have materials things to make you who you are as a person. My father has always told me that if your things burned down in a fire or were taken from you or you had to give them away today, would you be the same person tomorrow?

Here is the article and let me know what you think:

"Researchers have found that low self-esteem and materialism are not just a correlation, but also a causal relationship where low self esteem increases materialism, and materialism can also create low self-esteem. The also found that as self esteem increases, materialism decreases. The study primarily focused on how this relationship affects children and adolescents. Lan Nguyen Chaplin (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) and Deborah Roedder John (University of Minnesota) found that even a simple gesture to raise self-esteem dramatically decreased materialism, which provides a way to cope with insecurity.

“By the time children reach early adolescence, and experience a decline in self-esteem, the stage is set for the use of material possessions as a coping strategy for feelings of low self-worth,” they write in the study, which will appear in the Journal of Consumer Research.

The paradox that findings such as these bring up, is that consumerism is good for the economy but bad for the individual. In the short run, it’s good for the economy when young people believe they need to buy an entirely new wardrobe every year, for example. But the hidden cost is much higher than the dollar amount. There are costs in happiness when people believe that their value is extrinsic. There are also environmental costs associated with widespread materialism.

In the book “Happiness: Lessons From a New Science”, Richard Layard exposes a paradox at the heart of our lives. Most of us want more income so we can consume more. Yet as societies become richer, they do not become happier. In fact, the First World has more depression, more alcoholism and more crime than fifty years ago. This paradox is true of Britain, the United States, continental Europe and Japan.

Statistically people have more things than they did 50 years ago, but they are actually less happy in several key areas. There is also the considerable cost of what materialism does to the environment. We don’t yet know what final toll that could take in terms of quality of life and overall happiness. What many people don’t understand is that if we want to save the environment then at some level we have to buy and consume less. We don’t need to buy so much bottled water, for example. Studies have shown it’s usually not any purer than city tap water, which doesn’t leave mountains of plastic bottles strewn across the nations landfills. It also wastes energy and resources to make those plastic bottles and the many other unnecessary things that both youth and adults alike believe they need to have in order to enjoy life and feel good about themselves.

Mad Magazine summed it up with the statement, “The only reason a great many American families don’t own an elephant is that they have never been offered an elephant for a dollar down and easy weekly payments.”

That funny statement, is only funny because it’s somewhat true. The reason people want whatever is currently “hot” is because they believe it will contribute towards their satisfaction and happiness in life. The word “believe” is the key here. People believe that buying more and more things will make them happy, when in fact research has shown time and time again that this simply isn’t the case. What we do know for sure is that buying more and more unnecessary things is damaging our planet and contributing to global warming.

Sure, one person being less materialistic isn’t going to make a noticeable impact on the environment, but it will make a positive impact in that one life. Once entire nations start to understand the myths about what really makes individuals happy, the world will stand a fighting chance."

"The Jordan 6 Rings isn’t set to release for more than a month (8/16), but pairs have been surfacing earlier than expected. Listed below are the elements from the shoes represented on the Air Jordan 6 Rings:

Air Jordan 6 - Lacelock on laces, heel loop

Air Jordan 11 - Silhouette of upper
Air Jordan 12 - “T W O 3″ on tongue, metal lace loops at top
Air Jordan 13 - Outsole
Air Jordan 14 - Jumpman at bottom of tongue near the toe"
